AstroJung is a journal. That means you write things here you don't write anywhere else. So here is plainly what happens to them.
What is stored
Only what you save or write while signed in. For charts: date, time and place of birth, the calculated chart and the name you give it. If you're signed in, journal entries and recorded dreams are saved too — together with the reflection, song and questions the app returns. Every entry and dream can be deleted at any time, and deleting your account removes everything. What you send through the ideas form is stored as well, and the email in it only if you fill it in yourself. Without signing in nothing is stored except that form. The last chart you calculated stays in your browser so that reloading the page doesn't lose it — date, time and place of birth, nothing more. It never leaves this device and is deleted when you close the chart. For signed-in people the finished reading is stored as well — so it can be opened again without the AI writing and charging for it a second time. A record of which feature was used and when is stored too; without it the free uses could not be tracked. For signed-in people the finished readings are stored too, along with a record of which feature was used.
What is NOT stored
Chat conversations are not stored in the database — they disappear when you close the page, and the app doesn't even have a table for them. Nor is it stored whether an entry was assessed as difficult: such an entry is saved ONLY if you ask for it, otherwise not a single row remains. Cost measurement records only the number of words used and which part of the app it came from — never what was written.
Matching
Nobody ends up in matching by accident — joining is your own decision and can be switched off at any time. While it is off, nobody sees your profile. What is public: a nickname, a city, an age, optionally gender and a line about you. Nothing more; your chart is never sent to anyone. The match is calculated on the server and only the resulting numbers leave it. ONE THING TO WATCH: once you and someone confirm an invitation to each other, they get your birth date, time and place and the whole synastry — and you get theirs. It applies both ways, the app says so before you confirm, and it can be undone by ending the connection. While the connection lasts, the other person can save your details to their own charts; that copy stays with them afterwards. Messages are visible only to the two of you and are deleted when the connection ends. What you are looking for is visible to nobody — not even to the people it concerns.
Who your data is sent to
Text you write into the journal, dreams or chat is sent to the Claude API (Anthropic) to be processed — otherwise no answer could be produced. Your birth place name is sent to the OpenCage geocoding service to find its coordinates. Saved charts live in a Supabase database on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt). And one other person can receive something through matching — there is a whole section about that below.
Signing in and cookies
You do not have to sign in — without an account the app works in a limited way: the chart and the explanations yes, readings from the AI no. When you sign in, your e-mail and a sign-in token are stored in a cookie. That cookie is the only one we use; it is there so you are not logged out on every page load.
Deleting everything
In the menu beside your email you'll find “Delete account and all data”. It removes your account, every saved chart, your matching profile, invitations and messages at once, and it cannot be undone. You don't have to ask anyone or wait.
