What is a birth chart
A birth chart, also called a natal chart, is a map of the sky at the moment you were born. It is built from three pieces of information: the date, the exact time and the place. It records where the Sun, the Moon and the planets stood at that moment.
It is not a forecast of your life. It is a picture of the starting position — a language you can use to think about yourself.
What it is made of
- Planets — not the bodies in the sky, but named forces in a person. The Sun is what you are becoming; the Moon what you feel; Mercury how you think and speak; Venus what you find beautiful; Mars how you act.
- Signs — twelve ways those forces show themselves. It matters not only *what* is at work in you, but *how*.
- Houses — twelve areas of life the circle is divided into: the body, money, siblings, home, creation, work, relationships and others. They say where a given force will show up.
- Aspects — the angles between planets. They say whether those forces work together in you or get in each other's way.
Why the time of birth matters
The Sun moves only a little across the sky in a day. The Ascendant — the point that sets the houses — moves a whole sign in about two hours.
So without an exact time the houses and the Ascendant cannot be calculated. This app then simply leaves them out and says so. It does not fill in what it doesn't know — a guessed Ascendant is worse than none.
What you can read from it
Where your natural talent lies, and where you keep running into the same wall. What drives you and what slows you down. Which parts of you contradict each other.
Not what will happen. Astrology is used here as a symbolic language, not fortune telling.
